How should your stone be refinished?
There is only one method to achieve proper results. To restore the stone, it must be polished
with a series of diamond polishing pads until all surface scratches are removed and a natural
shine is reached.
Our Process
Masking
At Boston Stone Restoration, we begin every job by carefully masking off and taping off all
surfaces in the work area to ensure that they are protected.
Diamond Cutting
Then we begin diamond cutting. We use a series of diamond impregnated pads of varying grits to
actually cut away the surface damage to the floor. In actuality, only 1/32" will be removed from
the floor. The result of this process is a perfectly smooth, unblemished floor.
Powder Polishing
Once the floor has been "cut" with the diamond pads and all damage has been removed, it is ready
for the final step in the process, powder polishing. This is the process by which the stone is
buffed with a powder, containing calcite oxides, which causes a chemical reaction within the
stone. It is by this process that the high shine is achieved.
